Appraising Your Piano
The value of a piano is determined by several factors. These include: brand,
date of manufacture, physical condition, local market conditions, method
of sale, and the geographical availability of buyers. Due to these factors,
we recommend that you hire a qualified piano technician to determine the
value of your piano.
Determining the Age of Your Piano
To determine the age of your piano, all you need is the serial number and the
manufacturer's name. The manufacturer's name is usually on the outside of
the piano, right below or above the keyboard. Sometimes it is decaled on
the soundboard, on the underside (if it is a grand), or on the back (if it
is an upright). The serial number on an upright piano can usually be found
engraved on the metal plate inside the piano and/or engraved on the pinblock.
On grand pianos, the serial number is normally engraved either into the portion
of the plate nearest the keyboard, on the pinblock, and/or on the front part
of the keyframe (it will be necessary to remove the keyslip if this is the
case). Once you've found the manufacturer name and serial number, email the
information to info@langloispiano.com and
a Langlois Customer Service Representative will gladly get back to you with
the age of your instrument.
